Well...it looks like we now have a tropical storm out there to track.
We'll count on Buddy to keep us posted on Bertha's details!

Update: Greg Fischel just used the word "interesting" to describe the weather in about 5 days due to Bertha brewing in the Atlantic. Looks like Buddy is right and this is one to keep any eye on.

Bertha is now forecast to reach hurricane status in a few days.
It's impossible to know if Bertha will directly impact the East Coast, and of course North Carolina.
Obviously, as the days progress the picture becomes more clear. Such is life in the world of weather forecasting.
The storm is still at least 7-9 days away from reaching the United States(if indeed it does), and probably more like 9. Still plenty of time to monitor.
Always remember the are always in favor of a hurricane never affecting land.
I mean "...the odds are always in favor..."
